    Guidance: Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (must have achieved a minimum of Level 2 Pass at CNAT or grade 4 at GCSE PE). We will consider students who have not taken the CNAT/GCSE PE route, however, they need to have achieved a grade 4 or above in science.

    Course description:

    This qualification is for learners who want to study sport, leisure or fitness. This qualification is not just about being able to play sport; it will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into Higher Education on a sport-related programme such as Sport and Physical Education, Sport Science, Sport Coaching and Development or Sport and Leisure Management.

    Course units:

    The course is completed over 2 years, is equivalent to 1 A Level and comprises of 5 units. You can however, achieve the Level 3 Cambridge Technical Certificate at the end of Year 12 after completing 2 units.

    Unit 1 Body Systems and the effects of physical activity (external examination)
    Unit 2 Sports Coaching and activity leadership (coursework/practical)
    Unit 3 Sports Organisation and development (external examination)
    Unit 8 Organisation of a sports event (coursework/practical)
    Unit 18 Practical skills in sport and physical activities (coursework/practical)

    What can I do with this qualification?

    With vocational courses such as this, you can progress straight into employment. It is possible for you to progress further into higher education, as this level 3 qualification is equivalent to one A Level and carries UCAS points for university applications.
