Sackville School Foundation (Level 2) course – ONE year duration
This one-year programme enables students to gain the qualifications they need to progress their career and educational aspirations, while developing highly desirable transferable skills.
This popular programme is designed for students who have not gained English and/or Maths GCSE at grade 4 or above. Students are given dedicated English and Maths tuition, enabling them to gain these core qualifications in addition to achieving an additional GCSE-equivalent qualification in either child development or travel and tourism.
Many of our Foundation students then go on to access a Level 3 college course or apprenticeship. In some cases, students may progress on to a Level 3 A level or vocational programme of study with us, on successful completion of the Foundation programme (subject to meeting individual course requirements).
In addition to dedicated English and maths GCSE tuition, the Foundation programme includes:
EITHER:
OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National Child Development (one year course)
OR:
Pearson BTEC L 1/L 2 First Award in Travel and Tourism (one year course)
Work Experience/Volunteering
Alongside their timetabled lessons (which take place Tues-Thurs), students are strongly encouraged to carry out either a work experience or volunteering placement to complement their programme of study.
Options on completion of the Level 2 Access course:
Students will be supported by our Futures Leader in planning their next steps once the course is completed.
