Sackville School

Communities

Since September 2023, Sackville has implemented a new pastoral structure designed to better support our students and ensure a smooth transition from primary school. We have created five communities within our main school; Angelou, Attenborough, Holmes, Turing and Yousafzai. Each similar in size to a small primary school. This system allows us to maintain the personal, nurturing approach that parents tell us their children often miss when moving to a larger secondary school.

Each of our five communities are named after an inspiring individual whose qualities reflect the hopes and aspirations we share with our students. You can learn more about the history and activities of each school on its dedicated page.

Our community system allows us to track and nurture your child's progress more accurately and efficiently. Each school, with around 270 students, has a dedicated leadership team, including a Community Leader, a Deputy Community Leader, and Community Pastoral Assistant. Their primary focus is to ensure every student meets our high expectations for progress, attendance, dress code, behaviour, and punctuality. They are also the key point of contact, after the form tutor, for families and siblings will enter the same community to help maintain a really clear relationship over a family’s time at Sackville.

Within each community, students are part of a smaller, year-based tutor group. Two tutor groups in each year group are part of a community. This vertical system also encourages older and younger students to interact, creating greater leadership and developmental opportunities. Students learn with and from their peers, fostering a supportive community environment.

The community system is a really unique feature of Sackville and we would love you to find out more about each community. If you have any questions you can contact Mr Paul Street via pstreet@sackvilleschool.org.uk.
